IDGC 2023: IBC DG, Ify Onyegbule, Tasks Students on Commitment to Studies 

Students have been advised to be more committed to their studies to be able to chart a good course for their lives. 

The Director General of Imo Broadcasting Corporation, Ify Onyegbule, gave the advice while presenting a scholarship grant to the two overall best students of Owerri Girls Secondary School for their outstanding performances. 

The IBC Director General applauded the Class of 2002 of Owerri Girls’ Secondary School for the noble initiative and urged them to sustain the project. 

While also commending the beneficiaries, she reminded the students that they were being groomed to become professionals in their chosen careers in future and advised them to stay on course and hold on to their dreams. 

The Project-lead, Nkem Daberechi-Oguama, said they were in their Alma mater to carry out the maiden edition of the “Give Back Project”, which featured a career-focused master class to help the students in choosing a career, and a scholarship grant of N150,000 to the best performing students in both Junior and Senior Secondary classes covering their school fees, examination and sundry fees for one academic session. 

Delivering a lecture, entitled, “The Future Is Female, she encouraged the students not to feel disadvantaged for being female, stressing that they could attain any height in life by maintaining focus, dedication and belief in God. 

The Principal of the Senior Secondary section of the school, Lolo Christiana Nlekwa thanked the Class of 2002 for the gesture and encouraged other students to put in more efforts in their studies to enable them to benefit next session. 

The award winning students, Blessing Onyenweaku in SS 3 and Ekeoma Umejiego in JSS 3, while thanking the 2002 Alumni members, expressed joy over the grants saying that the scholarship would motivate them to better performance in their studies.
