Governor Hope Uzodimma’s Re-Election Bid Gets Massive Financial Boost from Supporters

In a dazzling display of solidarity, friends of Governor Hope Uzodimma orchestrated a Naira rain on Thursday night at Owerri’s Landmark Event Centre, with the aim to bolster financial support for the governor’s upcoming re-election next month.

With an impressive sum of about One billion Naira raised, the event highlighted the unwavering commitment of Uzodimma’s friends to contribute to his historical legacy, driven by admiration for his exceptional leadership qualities.

Distinguished donors such as Dr. Johnbosco Ozigbo, Sir Benneth Nwokejiobi, Chief Tony Chukwu, Prince Charles Amadi, Eze Imo, HRM EC Okeke, and others generously contributed, signifying their belief in Uzodimma’s ability to secure a second term.

Governor Uzodimma, visibly moved by the outpouring of support, expressed gratitude and acknowledged the significance of the funds raised. He stated, “If the amount of money raised is anything to go by, it means the election is concluded,” while pledging to channel the funds toward furthering development in the state.

The event’s Chairman, Sen. Osita Izunaso, emphasized that the governor’s friends believe he has earned a second term through commendable achievements. Former Chief of Army Staff, Rtd. Gen. Azubuike Ihejirika, echoed this sentiment, asserting that the support stems from appreciation for Uzodimma’s transformative initiatives.

Notably, some retired military and police colleagues of Gen. Ihejirika proudly endorsed Governor Uzodimma with a substantial N5 million donation. Imo indigenes in the Diaspora, including Chief (Dr.) Uzo Unegbu, expressed appreciation via Zoom, commending the governor’s strides in roads, education, and healthcare.

Former Governor of Imo State, Chief Ikedi Ohakim, the event’s convener, outlined three reasons behind the gathering: celebrating Uzodimma’s achievements for Imo, recognizing leadership lessons, and affirming a commitment to be part of the governor’s enduring history.

Despite acknowledging dissenting voices, Ohakim urged Uzodimma to continue demonstrating love to all citizens. As the night concluded, attendees, both near and far, were left with a sense of collective investment in shaping the future of Imo State.

In closing, Gen. Ihejirika emphasized the need for ongoing dialogue to encourage other governors to prioritize their constituents.

Sen. Izunaso extended gratitude to participants, urging timely contributions before the donation window closes in seven days, and also announced substantial contributions from the Planning Committee and some National Assembly colleagues, further solidifying the substantial support behind Governor Hope Uzodimma’s re-election bid.
