NPF Facilitates Fourth Annual Retreat Empowering Senior Police Officers in Imo

In a bid to enhance internal security mechanisms and promote holistic development, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) held a conference and retreat for senior police officers in Imo State from October 30 to November 1, 2023.

The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, revealed the theme of this fourth edition as “Fostering Economic Prosperity, Social Integration, and Political Development through Enhanced Internal Security Mechanism.”

The gathering which served as a platform for senior police officers to share experiences and engage with global security management experts also addressed key topics such as the Service scheme for the Nigeria Police Force, professionalizing the Force Criminal Investigations Department, re-orientation programs for officers, and the police pensions scheme.

Clarifying that the event was not politically motivated, ACP Adejobi emphasized the commitment of the Police to inclusivity by including sessions with political leaders and stakeholders for open discourse.

Meanwhile, the acting Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, issued a directive urging all medical practitioners in Nigeria to provide prompt and compassionate treatment to victims of gunshots and accidents, irrespective of whether a police report is presented. The directive aligns with the full enforcement of the Compulsory Treatment and Care for Victims of Gunshot Act of 2017.

Also, highlighting the importance of saving lives and creating a safer society, the Inspector General urged medical institutions and professionals to fully cooperate with law enforcement agencies in implementing this directive.
