2023 Imo NUJ Press Week: DG, IBC Assures Committee of partnership 

The Director General of Imo Broadcasting Corporation, Ify Onyegbule has assured the Committee Members of the 2023 Press Week of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Imo State Council of partnership to ensure the success of the event. 

She gave the assurance when the Chairman of the Committee Comrade Everest Ezihe led other members on a courtesy visit to the Corporation. 

The Director General described the theme of the 2023 Press Week, “Journalism in the 21st Century”, as very important and encouraged Journalists to latch on the outcome of the event to improve themselves. 

She maintained that the IBC Orient FM is the only station that reaches the 27 local government areas of the state and as such could be relied on for quality content and publicity. 

On the lecture topics for Press Week: Media and Nation Building; and Insecurity: The Role of The Media”, the IBC Boss advised Journalists to be professional in the discharge of their duties, most especially, when reporting security issues, stressing that it is their responsibility to douse tension and not to escalate issues. 

The Chairman of, the 2023 Imo NUJ Press Week Committee, Comrade Everest Ezihe had earlier informed the Director-General that they were in the Corporation to solicit support and partnership for airing of jingles, press releases, interviews and news commentaries on the event. 

He said that this year’s Press Week was aimed at assessing the impact of the social responsibility of Media Practitioners on the overall development of society. 

Comrade Ezihe said the weeklong activity would commence with a Thanksgiving Service on Sunday, December 10 and feature a facility tour, health talk, free medicals, road walk and conferment of awards.
