Chief Esile pays WAEC and JAMB fees for 60 constituents

Students have been advised to study hard to become useful members of society.

The Member representing Onuimo Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly, Chief James Esile advised during the presentation of cash to 60 beneficiaries of his education empowerment programme at Umucheke Okwe in Onuimo Local Government Area.

Chief Esile who is also the House Committee Chairman on Culture, Creative Arts and Tourism said the 2024 Fresh Air Education Empowerment Programme was the 5th in the series.

He commended the 60 students who scored above 50% average, out of the over 200 students across 10 public and private schools in Onuimo Local government that participated in the test.

Chief Esile presented cash to the benefitting students to cover their WAEC and JAMB registration fees and encouraged them to commit more time to their studies and always be of exemplary conduct.

He reminded the people of Onuimo that Governor Hope Uzodimma meant well for them and promised to render selfless service to complement the efforts of the governor.

Chairman of the Onuimo Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Cosmas Ndubuisi thanked Chief Esile for the gesture and encouraged him to remain focused on his service to Onuimo people.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Community Development Mr. Kennedy Onyekwere advised the students to reward Esile’s gesture with excellent performance in both exams.

Other speakers at the event said Onuimo local government area would have long been developed if past leaders had just like Esile, rendered selfless service and urged other well-meaning indigenes of the area to emulate Chief Esile’s philanthropic disposition.

Some of the benefitting students thanked Chief Esile and promised to make him proud.

The event which also featured a dance performance by Otu Udoka Cultural Troupe, witnessed the presence of the Sole Administrator of Onuimo Local Government Area, Chief Charles Ijezie, traditional rulers, and many others.
